ONAM POOKALAM THROUGH MINIATURISED ANTENNAS INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL FLOWERS

ONAM POOKALAM THROUGH MINIATURISED ANTENNAS INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL FLOWERS Onam Pookalam through Miniaturised Antennas instead of Traditional Flowers          Floral Design, traditionally known as POOKALAM is the hall mark of the colourful harvest festival ONAM.  A few years before  Microwave Group of NIT-T for a change formed ONAM POOKALAM using MICROWAVE INTEGRATED CIRCUIT antennas (ten types of antennas instead of ten rings found in the conventional pookalam viz. fractal antenna, patch antenna, implantable antenna, metamaterial antenna, RF ID, smart antenna, UWB antenna, spiral antenna, Yagi antenna, and sector antenna) chips designed and fabricated by the research scholars. Each small chip antenna has its own significant advantages. This Pookalam made up of small antennas propagate the joy of the integration festival ONAM.  Dr S RAGHAVAN SENIOR MOST PROFESSOR, MICROWAVE ENGINEERING GROUP, N I T TRICHY

AMALGAMATION OF SADNESS AND HAPPINESS REFLECTED BY MICROWAVE STUDENTS OF NIT, TRICHY DURING THE ONAM PERIOD

AMALGAMATION OF SADNESS AND HAPPINESS REFLECTED BY MICROWAVE STUDENTS OF NIT, TRICHY DURING THE ONAM PERIOD HELPING HAND TO KERALA SYMBOL THROUGH   FLOWER DECORATION           National Integration of    all community was felt when and all state students NIT Trichy join to celebrate the national festival Onam normally every year. But this year the calamity touched sky high in the god’s own country. The kerala needed great helping hand from every parts of the world. Having all these in mind the truly national, institute students, mainly the microwave engineering students reflected the sentiments in the form of traditional Onam flower decoration ( Poo kalam as is popularly known in kerala). Onam the symbol of welcoming the king Mahabali was technically celebrated by means of geometrical design and then filling up with the traditional flowers of different colorsby one section of students. Around 30 research scholars and students worked for about 4 hours and brought out timely flor

SPLENDOURS OF PLANAR TRANSMISSION LINES

Splendours Of Planar Transmission Lines Dr.S.Raghavan  Beyond certain frequencies, conducting wires are of no use due to skin depth. Waveguides (circular, ridged and rectangular) come into the usage. As the frequency increases beyond GHz. Microwave Integrated Circuits play dominant role. The back bone of Microwave Integrated Integrated Circuits (MICs) are planar transmission line. Planar transmission lines include Stripline, Microstrip, Slot line, coplanar waveguide, coplanar strips, Fin line, Substrate Integrated Waveguide and the their variants. Suspended Microstrip, Inverted Microstrip, Trapped Microstrip, Image guides, Dielectric Integrated Guides, suspended stripline are few of the variants of planar transmission lines.  The cross sections, the field lines and the modes of each transmission line are to be understood to make the design procedure easier. Stripline supports Pure TEM mode, Microstrip supports Quasi TEM mode, Slot line supports Non TEM mode and that
