AMALGAMATION OF SADNESS AND HAPPINESS REFLECTED BY MICROWAVE STUDENTS OF NIT, TRICHY DURING THE ONAM PERIOD

HELPING HAND TO KERALA SYMBOL THROUGH FLOWER DECORATION

National Integration of all community was felt when and all state students NIT Trichy join to celebrate the national festival Onam normally every year. But this year the calamity touched sky high in the god’s own country. The kerala needed great helping hand from every parts of the world. Having all these in mind the truly national, institute students, mainly the microwave engineering students reflected the sentiments in the form of traditional Onam flower decoration ( Poo kalam as is popularly known in kerala). Onam the symbol of welcoming the king Mahabali was technically celebrated by means of geometrical design and then filling up with the traditional flowers of different colorsby one section of students. Around 30 research scholars and students worked for about 4 hours and brought out timely floral decoration of the disaster with traditional “pookalam”.

In Onam POOKALAM 10 rings of different flowers will be used. They are Thumba, Kekkapoovu, Chemparathy, Thechipoove, Mkkutti, Aripoo, Arali, Sambangi, Hanuman Kireeedam, Chethi. The microwave group in NIT Trichy considered ten different types of antennas namely Patch, Fractal, SIW, RFID, Smart antenna, UWB, RFID, Implantable , Spiral and Metamaterial in place of ten different types of flowers. Infact‘ DHARBA’ grass is considered as an ANTENNA that bridges the ancestors with the living persons. Mental Telepathy works purely on Microwaves. In summary there is one t0 one similarity between the significance of onam pookalam and that of Microwave technology.
