Dr. S Raghavan became ILA and IELTS member. Then Director Dr P Subramani NIT T identified Dr S Raghavan and entrusted the NIT T library development. Incidentally, the present multi-storied library building is THE BRAINCHILD of Dr. S Raghavan as an overall coordinator.

The National Institute of Technology, Trichy has a modern Central Library with more than two and half lakhs of documents consisting of Technical books, reports, standards, CD-ROMS, Audio Visual Educational Cassettes and back volumes of journals. The library subscribes to 164 periodicals (print) plus 7000+ e-Journals and 700+ e-books besides a holding of 17690 back volumes of journals. The library also contains 16,750 books in the Book Bank scheme.

Digital Knowledge Centre has been established with 35 Ubuntu Computer systems with internet connection. Wi-Fi facility has been provided for laptop users. CCTV Web cameras have been fixed in the Central Library and the entire building is under camera surveillance. RFID Technology of Document Identification and Library Security System have been implemented for the library functions and services from 29th March 2013.

It has many high tech facility such as soundproof shouting rooms with scribbling walls which is located on the top floor of the five-storied building. Shouting rooms are the latest facility incorporated in advanced libraries where students could relieve their stress by either shouting or reading aloud. And sometimes the students are permitted to read the materials in whatever posture they prefer. Only a few IITs in the country have such a facility and IIT Madras is one such. But the scribbling wall is the first of its kind in the world. Students can scribble puzzles, formulae, mathematical and chemical equations and whatever comes to their mind, either to relieve their stress or part of their studies.

Dr.S.Raghavan and LIBRARY works Dr.S.Raghavan was requested by the Ex Director of NIT Trichy Dr.P.SUBRAMANIAM to take over the LIBRARAY as OVERALL COORDINATOR as instructed by the Dr.ANAND COMMITTEE (appoint a person who will improve the library in war footing basis) Since that day, He has taken interest in LIBRARIES.
